Safety policies that relate specifically to the activities of the School.
- Eye protection - areas within the School have been designated as areas requiring eye protection include laboratories and workshops
- Footwear - appropriate footwear is required in all laboratories and workshop areas
- Hazardous substances - no person is permitted to introduce a hazardous substance for use or storage in the School without first complying with the requirements of the School's Hazardous Substance Management System in the School Safety Procedures
- Hydrofluoric acid - no person is permitted to handle or store hydrofluoric acid without first consulting the School Safety Procedures for the Biological Laboratory
- MDF craftwood - MDF craftwood contains formaldehyde and is known to cause adverse health effects in predisposed people
- Refrigerators - the storage of checmical substances in refrigerators
- Laser equipment - regarding the use of class 3B or 4 lasers
- Instron Test Machine - no person is permitted to operate the Intron 8501 Tensile Test machine without first receiving training
- Staff and student safety inductions - responsibility to provide induction and training to all students, staff and visitors
- Training records - the School's legal responsibilities with regard to training, instruction and safe work practice
- Manual handling - identifying, assessing and controlling risks associated with manual handling
- Plant and equipment authorisation - training and competency requirements prior to operating plant and equipment
- Laboratory risk assessments - applicable to all School laboratories and workshops
- Work plans - required for all after hours work when potential task or area hazards are identified
- Working after hours - policy for working outside of normal working hours
