Our School provides computer labs with internet access, printing and file storage to assist you with your studies.
There are four computer laboratories in the School which are referred to by their room number:
We also have several SUN and linux workstations available to staff and students undertaking special projects. The Maths Computing Lab (MCL) is also available to enrolled students.
Your ECM password is updated whenever you log into pheme. If you have not logged into pheme since your ECM account was created, your account will be unavailable unti you do so.
Printing in the computer laboratories is subject to quotas, charged at 10c/A4sheet.
To purchase more print quota you must first add credit to your student/transaction card using one of the card stations in the libraries. Print Quota is sold in $5 blocks.
There is also a pay-as-you-go printing facility in rooms G23, 111 and 207. By default, when you submit a print job in rooms G23, 111 and 207, you will need to insert your student/transaction card into the print station and select the job, then select the appropriate printer from the print dialogue.
This information is subject to change.
Each account has a network home directory, mapped as H drive (H:), accessible from every lab computer. You should ensure that you save your work in progress to H drive, so that it is available from other computers.
Data saved to the local machines, including the desktop, is periodically deleted.
Each laboratory computer also has an area (D:) where you may store files locally. Although this area is not automatically deleted, you should be aware that files in D: can be deleted without any warning.
There is an area on the network (known as Scratch) for sharing files with staff and other students. This area should appear as T drive (T:) from every lab computer. Access to this drive is unrestricted and is not part of the School’s back schedule so you should consider this storage area temporary and be aware that files in T: can be deleted without any warning.
Backups are your responsibility.
