Formal safety training

Further information

Formal safety training is defined as training offered by external providers.

This includes training courses provided by external organisations in specific areas where local expertise, facilities or infrastructure are not available.

Formal training usually takes the form of certificated training where trainees are required to demonstrate their knowledge by way of a test on completion.

UWA safety training

The UWA Safety and Health Office offers general and specific safety training, ranging from structured half day courses to those covering several days with written course notes provided.

Relevant courses are advertised regularly by the School through internal mail.

Staff and students are urged to take advantage of these safety training provisions, in particular the full-day Laboratory Safety Course - this should be a prerequisite for all staff and students commencing work in the School's chemical and biological areas.

Registration for all UWA Safety and Health courses should be done through the School Safety Officer, Rob Greenhalgh, since approval and invoicing needs to be finalised prior to registration.

External safety training

Please contact the School Safety Officer, Rob Greenhalgh, telephone (+61 8) 6488 7099, for assistance on all other external training needs.
