The Hydrodynamics Laboratory at the School of Mechanical Engineering offers:
- six degrees of freedom motion platform (hexapod) with a payload of 1000kg
- 20 pressure sensors with conditioner cards for measurement of pressure between 0 and 3.5 bar absolute
- two 32 channels 12bit Agilent acquisition modules for acquisition of signals up to 3MSa/s
- signal generators
- accellerometers
- one fast acquisition camera Phantom V5.2 One Megapixel, 1000 fps, 12-bit pixel depth
- one tank rectangular tank for sloshing tests dim. 0.9 x 1.3 x 0.1 m (H x L x W)
- two vertical planar motion mechanism for plunging tests
- one PIV system Nd:YAG 15Hz repetition rate
Our laboratory is equipped for model testing in the field of hydrodynamics, meaning we can simulate motions of fluids in enclosed containers and entrance of bodies through the free surface.
The instrumentation allows accurate high-frequency pressure measurements and the acquisition of images of impacts on structures.
