Courses
The School offers broad based degree programmes complemented by a wide range of research activities, and supported by excellent staff and facilities. Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering and postgraduate degrees by research (Master of Engineering Science and Doctor of Philosophy) are all available. The teaching is done by highly qualified academic staff, many of whom are widely recognized international authorities in their respective areas of expertize and many of whom have received awards for the quality of their teaching.
Bachelor of Engineering is a four year, full time course. Students may also combine the study of engineering with a degree in Arts, Science or Commerce. These combined courses require five years of full-time study to complete but earn the student TWO degrees.
Outstanding career opportunities are present for those students completing an engineering degree. UWA graduates have a reputation for excellence.
The units comprising these courses are run in 1st semester and/or 2nd semester.
In addition, the School of Mechanical Engineering offers three different postgraduate by coursework programmes on campus and one via Blended Learning in the area of oil and gas engineering:

The Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Oil & Gas Engineering by coursework provides orientation to professional work in the oil and gas industry for graduates in engineering or science. It is convenient for those wishing to undertake advanced studies but unsure, initially, in which area to specialise. It also provides an overview of the industry for those with experience in a particular discipline.
The Graduate Certificate can lead to a Graduate Diploma which, if you acquired an average mark of 65% or more, can lead to a Masters of Oil & Gas Engineering.
The Masters of Oil & Gas Engineering by coursework provides across-the-board professional training for the oil and gas industry. The program has been designed to maximise flexibility and qualifications may be obtained by a combination of coursework and research. Modules in the two-year degree of Master of Oil and Gas Engineering (MOGE) are jointly offered as a half-year Graduate Certificate and a one-year Graduate Diploma course.
