Research Interests

• Active Noise and Vibration Control
• Room Acoustics
• Coupled acoustical and vibration systems.

Research activities in these three areas include:

• Development of Adaptive Based Active Noise Control Ear Defenders for the Resource Industries
• Active Control of Vibrational Power Flow into Structures
• Active Control of Noise Transmission into Rooms
• Investigation of active control of non linear vibration in flexible structures
• Development of Integrated Passive and Active Techniques for Pipeline Noise and Vibration Control
• Sound absorption and reflection from extensively reactive boundaries
• Room acoustics in the medium frequency range
• Dynamic response of coupled structures in the medium frequency range
• Ship Structural Response to Wave and Machinery Excitation
• Development of practical techniques to control noise from existing power transformers.

Distinctions and Awards

• President's medal for the best technical paper at the Australia Acoustical Society Conference (with Dr Jingnan Guo) 1996.
