Disc Marker DeviceProject Driver:A disc marker requires no paint or powder and the markers are re-usable. This device weighs about 400 grams and attaches to a metal detector. The only disadvantage is that the discs can slip away from the marked position. However, the deminer can see this clearly and can rectify the disc position easily. The marker magazine takes 14 discs. This device was developed entirely by HARC in Pakistan and tested with Afghan deminers. This picture shows the dispensing end of the marker tube with the red disc markers which have come out. The mechanism ensures that only one disc can come out at a time. This picture shows the discs being re-loaded into the magazine. Cost estimates: These are not available at the present time, but the final cost is expected to be below A$5 per unit for materials Further Work:Awaiting reactions and comments from deminers.
