School of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering

Courses

We offer broad-based degree programs complemented by a wide range of research activities and supported by excellent staff and facilities.

Teaching is by highly qualified academic staff, many of whom are widely recognised international authorities in their respective areas of expertise, and many of whom have received awards for the quality of their teaching.

Undergraduate courses

At the undergraduate level we offer a major in Engineering Science.

The Engineering Science major provides a direct pathway to the Master of Professional Engineering postgraduate qualification.

Postgraduate courses

At the postgraduate level, we offer coursework and research opportunities, including a Master of Engineering Science or a PhD degree by research.

Research degrees involve two to four years full-time research under the guidance of a supervisor in the School. They provide a unique opportunity to focus on an area of research for several years and make an important contribution to the development of your chosen research area.

Most of the research projects are strongly linked with industrial needs and funded in large part by industry as well as various departments of the state and federal governments.

Professional development

We also provide professional development opportunities for Engineering Asset Management, Reliability Engineering and Oil and Gas Engineering, as well as workshops in Gas Processing and LNG and short courses in Natural Gas Hydrates in Flow Assurance and Practical Distillation Technology.

These courses and units provide excellent training and development with, when possible, minimal disruption to the workplace through intensive weekend workshops, evening classes and online delivery.
